Character Creation Questions

The following are some useful questions that players may wish to answer when creating their characters, ensuring that they are fully rounded.

• 
  What does your character's name mean? (Note: many human names are taken from Sindarin; googling English-Sindarin dictionary will provide a dictionary with which to construct names.)
  
  If your character could change one physical detail about himself, what would it be?
  
  Why does your character wear their hair in the style they choose?
  
  What is the PC's favorite physical activity? Least favorite?
  
  Has your character ever climbed a tree? Swam in a river? What were the circumstances?
  
  What is your character's first reaction when threatened?
  
  What is the PC's favorite weather? Least favorite?
  
  Favorite season? Least favorite?
  
  What is the single most important memory the PC has?
  
  A large insect runs up your PC's leg. What is the reaction?
  
  What is your PC's favorite breakfast?
  
  Has your character ever seen/heard art/performance? What was it? What was the reaction?
  
  How would your PC describe their family?
  
  Is your PC a morning person? A night owl?
  
  Favorite color? Least favorite?
  
  Favorite animal? Least favorite?
  
  A guard/Noldo/member of the Fyrd stops your character for a minor offense. What is the reaction?
  
  Favorite beverage? Least favorite?
  
  Favorite food? Least favorite?
  
  What does your character think of when they see sickness? When they themselves are sick?
  
  How sick has your character been?
  
  Does your PC gamble?
  
  What phobias does your PC have? What are they and how intense? Why do they exist?
  
  What images would your character see in the clouds, were he to stare up at the sky on a given day?
  
  Your PC witnesses a crime being committed. What would they do? What if the perpetrator is someone he respects?
  
  What is your PC's favorite article of clothing?
  
  What is your PC's earliest memory?
  
  How introspective/self-aware is your character?
  
  How opinionated is the character? Does the character share these opinions or keep them to themselves?
  
  Is your PC confident or overconfident? Does he lack confidence?
  
  What hobby or side interest is most important to your character?
  
  What games did your PC play as a child?
  
  What does your PC do on the first day of good weather in a year?
  
  How does your PC feel about growing old? About their own mortality?
  
  What diet does your PC have?
  
  How easily does your PC get bored? How does the PC respond to boredom?
  
  Make a list of everything that is important to your character. Now circle those your PC would fight or die for.
  
  What was your PCs last nightmare?
  
  What was your PCs last great, pleasant dream?
  
  Does your PC typically remember their dreams?
  
  Does your PC dream in color, or black and white?
  
  What physical illnesses/conditions does your character have. How are they handled?
  
  What is the first thing your PC does when waking up?
  
  What is the last thing the PC does before sleeping?
  
  Whom does your PC love most of all in the world?
  
  What is your PCs most traumatic memory?
  
  How would your PC's parents describe him/her?
  
  If your PC developed a debilitating illness, what would they do?

Which of the Valar does your character see as their champion?

What pain or hurt from the past will your character not forgive? How much does this affect them?

What words were said by your character's parents that they will never forget?

Does your character drink? What are they like during moments of intoxication? Do they have an addictive personality?

What is your character's worst flaw? Greatest strength?

Does your PC have allergies?

Does your PC have difficulty with new tools/weapons or do they pick them up quickly?

What is the major regret your PC has in their life?

How does your PC want to live out their older years?

Overall, is your PC satisfied with their childhood?

Has your character struck someone in anger? Ever killed someone?

Is your character adventurous? In what aspects? Food? Travel?

What is your PC's idea of a perfect day? A perfect meal?

What sort of sense of humor does your PC have?

Are they ambitious?

What makes them proud? Embarassed?

Is there anything that can get a smile out of your PC, no matter how upset?

Is there anything that can anger your character, no matter how happy?

What makes your character furious?

Does your PC believe in the occult? In the Old Gods?

How does your PC feel about sex? What morals do they apply to it?

If someone asked your PC the most important rule to live by, what would it be?

Has your PC ever deliberately hurt someone, emotionally?

What is the best gift your PC has received? The worst?

How does your PC feel about the House of Hule? About the House of Beor? About the Fyrd? About the Noldo?

What are five things that would push your PC to violence? To murder?

What are several phrases your PC is fond of uttering? Where did they learn them?

What is your PC's romantic history?

If you had to characterize your PC as an animal, what would it be?

Is your PC a follower, a leader? A rebel?

What is the strangest thing your PC has done?

What's the luckiest thing that has happened?

If your PC had unlimited wealth, what would they spend it on?

Who is the craziest person your PC has known?

If your PC had a theme song, what would it be?

How would your PC court a potential lover?

Pick three adjectives that describe your PC's inner nature. Outer manner?

How generous is your PC toward strangers?

Is your PC a dreamer, or do they have feet firmly planted on the ground?

How does your PC celebrate victories?

What is your PC's view on privacy? On other's privacy?

What double standards does your PC hold?

What is the biggest lie your PC has told?

How talented is your PC at manipulating other people? How often do they do it?

Does your PC have a sense of 'personal space'?

Does your PC have any artistic talents?

How well does your PC handle change?

Do they enjoy surprises?
